PPP Update

Just a few things to note regarding our Parent Participation Program for the 2018-2019 school year:

(1)  In early to mid July families will receive an email indicating when they are able to sign up for the 4 mandatory traffic supervision shifts using the OnVolunteer system.

(2)  Later in the summer our PPP coordinator will be informing families which volunteer activity they will be doing for the 2018-2019 school year. Please note that every effort will be made to ensure your preferred volunteer task is assigned to you.

(3)  Lastly, there will be a "Traffic Supervisor's" meeting in late August for new families and any family that has not yet attended a training session.  Please stay tuned for the date!  Thank you.

Updated Anaphylaxis Policy

Please note that effective for the 2018-2019 school year St. Matthew's Elementary has an updated Anaphylaxis Policy.  The policy will be available to view in our updated Parent Handbook (which will be available on our school's website in mid-July 2018).  Some of the highlights of this updated policy include:

• Parents of children with anaphylactic allergies will be required to complete the Student Emergency Response Plan which requires the signature of the child’s physician.

• Children at risk of anaphylaxis will carry one auto-injector with them at all times.

• Children should carry their auto-injector with them while they are in their classroom, in gym/music classes, at the church, outside at recess, at a sporting/club event or offsite at a field trip.

• Parents of students who do not have their auto-injector with them at all times will be phoned for the auto-injector to be brought to school.

If you have any questions and/or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Miss Welsh.

Progress Reports - Third Term

Please note that Third Term Communicating Student Learning Progress Reports were sent home with students today, Thursday, June 28, 2018.  In addition to the report written by the classroom teacher, students will also have a Self-Reflective document included in their progress report envelope.  This important document allows your child(ren) to communicate to you about the highlights of their school year.

Have a Great Summer!

On behalf of the staff at St. Matthew's, we wish all families a safe and happy summer.  We all look forward to seeing you on Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at 8:40 am!
