Uniform Reminders

In the past few weeks it has been noted that some students have not been adhering to our school's uniform expectations.  In particular, the following have been noted:

• Boys wearing non, "Neat Uniform" pants

• Girls wearing elaborate headbands (accessories are to be only navy, green, white or discreet hair coloured hair bands or barrettes)

• Nail polish being worn

• Runners being used, instead of the prescribed black dress shoes

Notes have gone home and will go home to inform parent(s) of the infraction.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact Miss Welsh at or phone the office at 604-589-7545.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Saint Dress Up Day and All Saints Mass November 1

Just like last year, our October 31 Non-Uniform Day will be focused on the saints of the Catholic Church. Students are encouraged to come dressed up as as their favourite saint. This is a wonderful opportunity for you and your child to learn key details about a saint’s life and to weave that information into a saint costume!

An alternative is for you and your child create a badge with your child's favourite or patron saint (templates are available at school).  If the badge option is chosen, then students must come dressed in regular uniform (the badge can be pinned onto their sweater).

Please note students are not required to bring money for this non-uniform day.

Also, there will be an All Saints Mass for our school children on Wednesday, November 1 at 9:00 am in St. Matthew's church led by our Grade 3 students.  All are welcome!

Policy Update

Please click here  to link to the most up-to-date CISVA policies:

• Policy 411 (Family Statement of Commitment and Annex A)

• Policy 412 (Parent Code of Conduct)

It is important that all St. Matthew's families take time to read and familiarize themselves with the contents of these policies.  If you have any questions about these policies and the changes, please contact Miss Welsh at 604-589-7545 or

Fundraising Bottle Drive

Thursday, November 8, 2018

Save your bottles (and pop cans, juice boxes, beer, spirits and other refundable containers!)  The Grade 6 class will be holding several Bottle Drives throughout the school year to raise funds for their Outdoor Education Camp in 2019.  On Thursday, November 8 (3 Way Conference Day) bring in your family's empty, clean containers and the Grade 6 students and their parents will gratefully collect and recycle them on your behalf.  Thank you!
