3 Way Conferences

On Friday, November 3, 2017 parents and guardians will have an opportunity to learn of their child's(ren's) progress with a 3 Way Conference.  This conference will involve:   the child, at least one parent/guardian, and their child's teacher.  This conference will allow children to articulate what they have been learning and what they feel they are successful at, so far in the school year.

Please note that this conference will be focused on the social, emotional and behavioural aspects of your child's(ren's) progress.

Academic progress will be addressed in the forthcoming Communicating Student Learning (CSL) Progress Report (Report Card) in early December.

If you have questions or concerns about your child's academic progress please contact your child's teacher through email or a phone call.  Please note that if your child's teacher has any concerns about the academic progress of your child, you will be notified before CSL Progress Reports go home in December.

Please note that students are expected to come to school dressed in FULL uniform on this day.

Lastly, please note that this year we will be allowing parents/guardians to sign up for the 3 Way Conference through our OnVolunteer program. It will be on a first come, first serve basis.  Please stay tuned for when this process will be open for sign up.

 Thank you.

Allergies - EpiPens and Inhalers

A reminder, as stated in our St. Matthew's Parent Handbook:  if a student has anaphylaxis, they are required to carry an EpiPen. EpiPens will be kept at the office. As soon as students are old enough they should carry their own injectors. It is the parent’s responsibility to ensure that the EpiPen is current.  We ask that children with anaphylaxis wear an EpiPen pouch so that if an allergic reaction occurs, their medicine is immediately available.

Students with inhalers will be permitted to keep their medication with them during the school day. All other medication must be reported to the teacher and secured in the office.

It is the parents’ responsibility to inform the school of any changes to the medication needs of their child. If necessary, parents must update information contained on emergency forms kept on file in the school. As well, parents are responsible for ensuring that when their child is on a field trip, that they provide medication and review medication needs with the supervising teacher.

If you have any questions, please contact Miss Welsh at:  welsh@stmatthewselementary.ca or 604-589-7545.
