Please note the following important dates:

• Saturday, April 27 - Grade 2 Theme Mass 5:30 pm

• Sunday, April 28 - Pancake Breakfast after the 8:30 am and 10:30 am Masses

• Monday, April 29 - Grade 6 Fundraising Pizza Lunch (for those who ordered)

• Tuesday, April 30 - Parent Evening for parents in Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 - 7:00 pm

• Wednesday, May 1 - Grade 2 First Communion Rehearsal 6:30 pm

• Friday, May 3 - Walkathon SCHOOL ENDS AT 12:15 PM

• Sunday, May 5 - First Holy Communion Mass 2:30 pm

• Monday, May 6 - Chancellor Music Festival (St. Matthew's Intermediate Choir Performs)

• Wednesday, May 8 - Non-Uniform Day - Blue Jeans (bring a loonie or toonie for BC Children's Hospital)

• Saturday, May 11 - Parish Dinner Dance 6:00 pm

PEC ELECTION 2019-2020

The nominating committee (Fr. Tien Tran, Katrina Bellosillo, Tim McKinnon, Josephine Copon) invites all eligible persons to nominate candidates for the upcoming education committee elections for the 2019-2020 PEC. Deadline to submit nominations is Friday, May 3, 2019.

There are 2 positions that we need to fill for a 2 year term. The election will be held after Sunday Masses on May 25 (after the anticipated Mass) and May 26, 2019. Advance voting will be held on Friday May 24th from 4-5pm in the Jubilee Hall .

Parent Evening - April 30, 2019

Parents of students in Grades 4, 5, 6 and 7 are reminded of the parenting evening focused on helping your children navigate changes as they mature and grow.   The parenting evening:  CISVA Sexuality and Your Child Evening will be held on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 7:00 pm.

Pancake Breakfast

Please join the school in partaking in the next Pancake Breakfast after both morning Masses on Sunday, April 28, 2019.  We hope to see you all there!

Walkathon Spirit Week

Next week we will have our Walkathon Spirit Week to build excitement leading up to Walkathon Day - Friday, May 3.  All students are invited to "dress up" in the following items on the specific days noted below:

Monday:  Crazy Socks and Runners (with regular uniform)

Tuesday: Crazy Socks, Runners and Sunglasses (with regular uniform)

Wednesday:  Crazy Socks, Runners, Sunglasses and Hat ( withregular uniform)

Thursday: Must wear full uniform to school today but, can change into Crazy Socks, Runners, Sunglasses, Hats and Gym Strip after the school Mass

Friday: Walk-a-thon T-shirt, shorts (weather dependent) and runners

Walkathon 2019

Our Walkathon is set to take place next Friday, May 3, 2019!  Students only have a few more days to collect pledges.  Students please remember to collect as many pledges as you can  and return your form on THURSDAY!    

UPDATE:  WEEK THREE WINNERS OF A POPCORN AND MOVIE AFTERNOON (awarded to the class that brought in the most number of pledges for the week):

Please be reminded that school ends at 12:15 pm on our Walkathon Day (May 3)!

Volunteer Walkathon Lead Walkers Needed!

This is a call out for all volunteers who would like to participate at our upcoming Walkathon on May 3, 2019 at Godwin Park.  If you would like to lead a group of students in your child's class (or another grade), please email Josephine Copon at jcoponsmes@gmail.com.  You will be required to be in the school gym for a team briefing immediately after the school bell (8:40am).  You will get your class walking list and detailed instructions regarding the Walkathon at that time.  All requests must be received no later than the start of the school day on Wednesday, May 1st.  Thank you in advance for your involvement.  Kindly note that volunteering for this event does NOT count towards PPP hours.

May's Lunch Program

Registration forms have been distributed, and all completed forms/payment are due back on Wednesday, May 1, 2019.  Please note that the first day of lunch service with the new menu offering is Wednesday, May 8, 2019.  Many thanks, and we hope your child(ren) will take part in the lunch program!  If your child has lost the form please click here for access to it.

Usher Help Needed

We are in need of ushers to help out at the:

First Communion Mass (May 5, 2019 at 2:30 pm) and,

Confirmation Mass  (Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 11:00 am)

If you are able to help please contact the parish PREP coordinator, Trish Van Vliet at prep@saintmatthews.ca  All helpers are asked to be available 1/2 hour before the Mass begins.

Spring Dinner & Dance - Polynesian Escape

Our Parish annual event is taking place on Saturday, May 11, 2019, and the date is fast approaching.  Tickets have been designated to school families, and can be purchased from the school office for $40 each.  We hope to get as many representatives from SMES to join in, so that we can arrange to have our community seated at the same tables.  You are guaranteed for a fun evening, so please consider coming out to support this worthy-cause event!

First Communion Choir

Dear Parents of Intermediate Choir Members,

Summer STEAM Camp
