Angel Costumes

Seamstressers Needed

We are beginning preparations for our upcoming Christmas Musical and are appealing to parents in our school community who would be willing to sew some basic angel costumes for our students to use during the upcoming musical production. So, if you are handy with a needle and thread and have some time to spare please contact either Mrs. Mouro (mouro@stmattthewselementary.ca) or Mrs. Testani (testani@stmatthewselementary.ca) to indicate your interest in helping out.  All costs incurred would be reimbursed.  Thank you!

Advent Morning Masses

Our Grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 classes are once again asked to attend 8:00 am Morning Masses during the season of Advent.   This is a wonderful way to start the day and allows our students to engage in a deeper appreciation of this season of waiting.  If students are unable to attend their scheduled date because of a conflict, then they are asked to attend another Mass that week.  Please see below for the scheduled dates. Thank you.

Monday, December 2: Grade 5 and Grade 6
Wednesday, December 4: Grades 3 and 4
Thursday, December 5: Grade 7

December 9: Grades 5, 6
December 11: Grades 3, 4 and 7

December 16: Grade 5, 6
December 18: Grades 3 and 4
December 19: Grade 7

Grades 5, 6, 7 - Ski Trip Deposit Form

Attention families with children in Grades 5, 6, and 7.  Mr. Durante is currently in the planning stage for the annual ski trip to Whistler Mountain.  Forms went home with students this week (or attached form) and are due on Wednesday November 27. A $60 deposit is necessary to hold a spot.  If there is not enough interest in this trip (at least 42 students), the trip will be cancelled and deposits will be returned.  Please click here for a link to the form.  Thank you.

Family Photo Night

Families who had participated in this should have received their proofs directly from Lifetouch.  Families can order their complimentary colour 8X10, as well as purchase additional photographs from the proofs.  Options to order can be done by phone, by mail, or online.  For the free 8X10 redemption only, Lifetouch has asked that you contact customer service for no charge shipping.  Thank you.

Hot Lunch - December 18

As previously advised, there was a typo in the hot lunch form that went out with the original date of December 16th.  This is to confirm that Hot Lunch Wednesday is on December 18, which does not conflict with Pizza Lunch on December 16.

ATTENTION:

CURRENT SMES SCHOOL FAMILIES

We are half way through November and beginning to look at the 2020/2021 school year.  If you have a son or daughter who was born in 2015 and will be ready for Kindergarten in September 2020, please send your child's name and date of birth to the attention of Ms. Rossi via e-mail at the school office:  office@stmatthewselementary.ca
This information is very important as we look ahead to planning for the next school year.  Thank you!

Morning Drop Off Reminder

Just a friendly reminder:  children are to exit their car from the passenger side of the vehicle not the driver's side when using the drop-off zone in the morning. This is done for the safety of both your children and the supervisor assisting your child as they leave your car.  Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Our Preschool Fundraiser

Make this Christmas season merry and bright with delicious Purdy's Chocolates for your family and friends.  The preschool is holding their annual fundraiser, and order forms/catalogs can be found at the SMES office.  Thank you for your support in this worthy cause as proceeds go to our preschool's classroom needs/materials.
