• Monday, December 2 - Grade 5 and Grade 6 students attend 8:00 am Morning Mass

• Monday, December 2 - Grade 6 Fundraising Pizza Lunch (for those who ordered)

• Wednesday, December 4 - Grade 3 and Grade 4 students attend 8:00 am Morning Mass

• Thursday, December 5 - Grade 7 students attend 8:00 am Morning Mass

• Friday, December 6 - Grade 3 Assembly 9:00 am all are welcome to attend


Christmas Toy Drive

During this Christmas season, we will be having a toy drive to help those children who are sick in hospital during the holidays. We are looking for any new toys ranging in age from babies up to teenagers. The gifts do not need to be wrapped and can be placed in the bin marked Toy Drive by the Resource Room. All toys that are collected will be donated to the Oncology Unit at BC Children's Hospital and Canuck Place. The drive will begin on Monday, December 2nd and finish on Thursday, December 19th. Thank you for your generosity and support of this initiative.


PPP Reminders

Just some friendly reminders: 

• if for some reason you are unable to make it for a supervision shift please ensure that you contact the school office and the PPP coordinator to let them know in advance.

• also please note that the deadline to complete the mandatory 2 traffic supervision shifts for the Fall/Winter season is February 28, 2020.  Please make sure you have signed up and completed these 2 shifts before then.  If you have any questions please contact the PPP coordinator Tania Di Liello at   Thank you!


School Ski Trip

Last appeal for students in Grades 5, 6 ,and 7 for the Whistler ski trip.  Mr. Durante is short of the minimum number to make the trip feasible. The new deadline is Tuesday, December 3, 2019.  To clarify: the date the trip takes place is on Thursday February 27, 2020.  Please click here to access the Ski Trip form.  Thank you!


Holy Cross High School Christmas Basketball Shooting Camp

Who: Boys and Girls in Gr. 4-7
When: Dec 30/31- Jan 2/3 Each Day 9am-12pm
Where: St. Matthew’s Elementary Gymnasium, Surrey
How: email Head Coach/Teacher Matthew LeChasseur to confirm a spot in the camp. It is limited space and first come first serve.
Download and fill out a registration form at and bring a cheque and form on the first day of the camp.

Cost: $100.00 includes daily prizes and gatorade.  Cheques made out to Crusader Basketball Club



Parish Christmas Pageant

Christmas Pageant:  If you are interested in participating in the Christmas Children’s Mass Pageant on Christmas Eve December 24th at the 5:30 pm Mass please contact the PREP office for more information and practice schedule.  We are looking for approximately 25 actors and actresses from Gr. 2 -7 and some parent helpers from PREP and St. Matthew's Elementary School.   

The Schedule for Rehearsals will be as follows:

Saturday - Dec. 7 in the church – 10:00 – 12:00 (assign costumes – lunch to follow) pickup 12:30 pm

Saturday – Dec. 14 – 9:45 – 11:00 (in church – dress rehearsal)

Saturday Dec. 21 @ 10:00 - 12:00 in the church (dress rehearsal)


School Christmas Musical

The Legend of the Christmas King

On Thursday, December 12, 2019 St. Matthew's students will perform the Christmas Musical:  The Legend of the Christmas King!  Students and staff are busily preparing for this production and warmly welcome all parents, family members and parishioners to attend.  There will be a 1:30 pm and a 7:00 pm show.  Admission will be by a donation of a non-perishable item for our St. Matthew's parish St. Vincent de Paul Society.   See you then!


Advent Morning Masses

Our Grades 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 classes are once again asked to attend 8:00 am Morning Masses during the season of Advent.   This is a wonderful way to start the day and allows our students to engage in a deeper appreciation of this season of waiting.  If students are unable to attend their scheduled date because of a conflict, then they are asked to attend another Mass that week.  Please see below for the scheduled dates. Thursday, December 5: Grade 7

December 9: Grades 5, 6

We are half way through November and beginning to look at the 2020/2021 school year.  If you have a son or daughter who was born in 2015 and will be ready for Kindergarten in September 2020, please send your child's name and date of birth to the attention of Ms. Rossi via e-mail at the school office:
