Friday Update: April 1, 2022

Dear St. Matthew’s Elementary School Families

It has been a blessing to be back with your children after the break!  We continue to lead your children in activities focused on this Lenten season and are eagerly anticipating the joy that will come with Easter Sunday!

At the end of next week we will launch our Walkathon campaign for the year!  It is our major fundraiser and this year we have some pretty exciting prizes lined up!  Stay tuned for more details!

Sincerely in Christ,
Miss Welsh

NEWS FOR THIS WEEK

HOLY THURSDAY RETREAT DAY AND POVERTY LUNCH

On Thursday, April 14, 2022 all staff and students will engage in a day of activities focused on the Triduum (Holy Thursday, Good Friday and Easter Vigil/Easter Sunday).  Also, on this day all students will participate in a Poverty Lunch.  This means that during lunch eating time all students will receive a bun to eat and drink water.  This is another small sacrifice we can make as a school community as Lent draws to a close.  Please note that students can still bring snacks to school on that day.  Please ensure that your child brings a water bottle to school. Thank you!

LENTEN MORNING MASSES

We will continue our annual Lenten sacrificial tradition of inviting our Grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 classes to attend 8:00 am morning Masses during the season of Lent.  Please see below for the scheduled days and time.

April 6:  Grades 2, 3, 4
April 7:  Grades 5, 6, 7

April 11:  Grades 5, 6, 7
April 13:  Grades 2, 3, 4

Spring has sprung and there’s no better way to showcase its beauty than supporting St. Matthew’s plant sale. The forms went out this week and are due back on Wednesday, April 6. This year, the selection is outstanding so be sure to take a look. All orders will be ready during after school pick up on April 26, just in time for First Communion AND Mothers’ Day! All proceeds to benefit technology upgrades for our kids. Thank you for your support!
