The week of February 12th begins Catholic Schools’ Week. We will start the week off by having our students proclaim the readings and sing in the choir at the February 12, 10:30 am Mass. All SMES families are encouraged to attend this Mass and students are asked to show their school pride by wearing their full uniform!
Also, a friendly reminder that at least one parent is required to attend our upcoming AGM on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm. It is a mandatory meeting. Details are below.

REMINDER: SMES ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
Our Annual General Meeting will take place on Thursday, February 9, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the school gym.
* At least one parent is expected to attend this evening
* The evening will start with a brief overview of our year thus far by our PEC and then focus on Creating a Safe Haven for our Children: Learning how to safeguard children from pornography (please note that this topic fulfills our parent support evening required by the CISVA)
* The evening will end with the handing out of re-registration packages
* The AGM will last about 1 hour
* Light refreshements will be served
This meeting is for adults only.

PARENT RESOURCE ON EMPATHY AND ACCOUNTABILITY
Open Parachute is a resource available to families and schools to help provide support in important areas of children’s development including: mental health, resiliency and building compassion. Throughout the year I will provide parents with links to a resource that tackles these areas.

SHROVE TUESDAY – PANCAKE LUNCH
On Tuesday, February 21 we will continue an old tradition here at SMES of presenting the students with pancakes for lunch! This Tuesday (known as Shrove Tuesday) marks the last day before the penitential season of Lent. So we will feast with pancakes! Please note that you may wish to still pack a light lunch for your child as they will only be receiving 2 pancakes. If you have any concerns or questions please contact your child’s classroom teacher. Thank you!
