We have now begun the penitential season of Lent. Students will be learning about all aspects of this season including fasting, almsgiving and prayer. Students are also encouraged to make small sacrifices as they journey through this season. Ask your child what they will “give up” this Lent.
Sincerely in Christ,
Ms. Welsh

NEWS FOR THE WEEK
ST. MATTHEW’S ELEMENTARY FIRST ANNUAL CARNIVAL
As everyone heard during our recent AGM, St. Matthew’s will be hosting its first annual Carnival as a key fundraiser for our school this year. We would like to announce to families that we have solidified and confirmed a new date of Saturday, June 17, 2023. Please set the date aside and plan to bring family and friends! It will be a fun day to spend together and we really look forward to seeing everyone there!
NON-UNIFORM DAY – DRESS LIKE YOUR FAVOURITE COMIC BOOK OR GRAPHIC NOVEL CHARACTER MARCH 8, 2023
In conjunction with our Literacy Week theme, on Wednesday, March 8, 2023 students are encouraged to dress as their favourite comic or graphic novel character and bring a loonie, toonie or more for Deacon Patrick! Deacon Patrick will be ordained a priest in the summer and we would like to gift him as a school community with a brand new chausable! Any money raised this day will go towards the purchase of this priestly vestment. Thank you in advance for your support!
