This Sunday we celebrate the end of the Easter season with Pentecost.  On this day we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit and the birthday of our Church!  Enjoy a wonderful Pentecost Sunday!

BONUS NON-UNIFORM DAY

To celebrate and promote our first ever school carnival we will have a special non-uniform day on Wednesday, May 31, 2023!  We are asking all students to bring a toonie to support some carnival endeavours.  What to wear?  Here are some suggestions:

*  Rainbow themed clothes

*  Red and white clothing

*  Dress up as a circus clown!

HIP HOP DANCE PERFORMANCE INVITATION & COSTUME INFORMATION

Dear Parents,

This week your children have been enjoying hip hop dance lessons with an instructor from 1-Vibe as part of their PE lessons.   On Tuesday, May 30, 2023 at 1:30 pm each class will perform a hip hop dance.  Family members are welcome to join us in the gym.  Please see below for the costume requests for each grade that day (students can wear their hip hop costume the whole day, they do not need to come to school in regular uniform):

Dance Costumes

Everyone wears runners
Bottoms = the theme colour or black – pants, shorts, skirts
Shirts: short or long – can have writing or logos, but main colour is the colour asked for.

Kindergarten
Bottoms: the theme colour or black (shorts under skirts or dresses if worn)
Shirt: Hawaiian theme – flowers, bright colours

Grade 1
Bottoms: the theme colour or black
Shirt: Purple, Green, Blue (Encanto)

Grade 2
Bottoms: the theme colour or black
Shirt: Pink or purple (trolls)

Grade 3
Bottoms: the theme colour or black
Shirt: Orange, Red, or Yellow (sunset)

Grade 4
Bottoms: the theme colour or black/brown
Shirt: Animal prints, or browns/blacks

Grade 5
Bottoms:  black
Shirt: Red, Blue, Yellow

Grade 6
Bottoms: the theme colour or black
Shirt: Basketball jerseys or Orange, Teal, White

Shirt: Grad hoodie

WALKATHON – FINAL RESULTS!  

Once again we would like to thank all SMES families who worked so hard to contribute to this year’s Walkathon!  All monies have now come in and the grand total raised was:  $27 775!  This is one of our biggest totals ever!

The Walkathon funds will go towards a permanent scoreboard in the gym and a climbing wall in our sensory room; any extra funds will be directed to other school upgrades.  Well done, St. Matthew’s!
