Thursday Update: June 1, 2023

Dear St. Matthew’s Elementary School Families,

Well, we have now entered the last month of the school year!  There are a lot of activities planned including our Volunteer Appreciation Afternoon on June 7, Fun Day on June 9, the School Carnival on June 17 and our Grade 7 students will have their Farewell Mass and celebration on June 23, 2023.

The month of June also marks the dedication to the Sacred Heart of Jesus; may we all pray that our hearts become ever more attuned to what God wants for our lives!  Sacred Heart of Jesus, pray for us!

UPDATE:  FULL SCALE EMERGENCY EVACUATION DRILL 

Next Friday, June 9, 2023 our school will conduct a full-scale emergency evacuation drill.  Below are some key things to note:

*  Students will not be released before 2:00 pm

*  It will take between 2:00 pm and 3:00 pm to release all students so please be patient

*  We will have tables set up just outside the blue gate with 2 lines for pick up based on alphabetical order.

*  Line 1 will be for students with the last names: A through Le and Line 2 will be for the parents/guardians of students with last names from Li. through Z.

*  Signs will not get posted until the drill starts so if you plan to line up early please note, you may have to move based on where the signs are placed

*  Important to note that students will ONLY be released to parents/guardians who are indicated on the Student Emergency Release Form.

*  If someone other than those named on your child’s Student Emergency Release Form will be doing the pick up on June 9 then parents need to phone/email the office to have that added to their form.

*  Parents/Guardians doing the pick up that day will need to show Photo ID to confirm their identity

SCHOOL CARNIVAL!

An AMAZING event is being planned for our first ever school carnival!  Check out the poster below for more details and please note that:

*  Pre-sale forms for the carnival went home yesterday; they are due on Wednesday, June 7, 2023.   Please be sure to check your child’s bag for the form.

*  Order your child’s wrist band early to take advantage of Early Bird Pricing!  

*  There is going to be a TON of fun events including a bungee run, dunk tank, cake walk and so much more – hope to see you all there!
