Thursday Update - November 2, 2017

 3 Way Conferences

Friday, November 3

Please note that this is not a regular day of school for children and thus, there is NO SCHOOL for students on this day. You and your child just need to come in for your scheduled time.

On this day, parents and guardians will have an opportunity to learn of their child's(ren's) progress. This conference will involve: the child, at least one parent/guardian, and their child's teacher. This conference will allow children to articulate what they have been learning and what they feel they are successful at, so far in the school year.

Please note that this conference will be focused on the social, emotional and behavioural aspects of your child's(ren's) progress. Academic progress will be addressed in the forthcoming Communicating Student Learning (CSL) Progress Report (Report Card) in early December.

If you have questions or concerns about your child's academic progress please contact your child's teacher through email or a phone call. Please note that students are expected to come to school dressed in FULL uniform on this day.

Our Scholastic Book has been quite successful thus far! Today the book fair will be open after school from 2:45 pm to 3:45 pm.  On Friday, Nov. 3, the book fair will be open all day, from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to allow parents and children to stop by before or after their 3-Way Conferences.

Thank you for all your on-going support of this important event!

Remembrance Day Assembly and Poppies for Purchase

Our Grade 3 class will be leading us in a Remembrance Day Assembly on Thursday, November 9 at 9:00 am in our school gym.  All family members and St. Matthew's parishioners are welcome to attend this assembly.

In addition, we will be selling poppies starting on Monday, November 6 until Thursday, November 10, 2017.  A donation of a loonie (or more) would be appreciated.  All proceeds from the sale of these poppies go towards supporting our Canadian veterans.  Thank you in advance for your support.

School Mass

Join us at our next school Mass on Friday, November 10.  Our Grade 6 class will help lead the liturgy.  Mass begins at 9:00 am - all are welcome!

School Uniform

As the weather turns colder please note that students are reminded to bring a warm jacket to school each day.  Gloves, and a hat are also a good idea. Girls are allowed to wear tall socks or tights but, note that pants are not permitted under girls' tunics or kilts.

Please ensure that all articles of clothing are clearly marked with your child's name.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Turn Back Your Clocks

A friendly reminder:  at 2:00 am on Sunday, November 5, Daylight Savings Time ends.  We will all need to "turn back" our clocks by 1 hour!  Enjoy the "extra" hour of sleep!

Lifetouch Retake Photos have been postponed to November 14, 2017.
